What Is a Steel Structure System?
A steel structure system is a complete, engineered framework of primary and secondary structural members forming the load-bearing skeleton of a building. Fabricated off-site to precise tolerances and delivered as a bolt-together package — no curing time, no formwork, no wet trades required.
Q235 and Q345 structural steel grades deliver tensile strength of 235–345 MPa, yet weigh a fraction of equivalent concrete. This means lighter foundations, faster erection, longer achievable spans, and a building that can be expanded or modified throughout its life.
Roof System: Components and Functions
The roof system is the primary weather barrier and thermal envelope. Every component serves a specific structural or performance function.
Roof Cladding
Corrugated steel sheets providing weather resistance and long-term durability against rain, wind, and UV.
Ridge Cap
Covers the roof apex to prevent water ingress and enhance long-term weathertight durability.
Z型檩条
Horizontal members spanning between rafter beams, supporting roof cladding and transferring loads to the primary frame.
Rafter Beam
Primary structural members following the roof slope, supporting the purlin system and transferring loads to frame columns.
Eave Strut
Supports the eave purlin and provides structural connection for the roof edge, tying roof and wall systems together.
Roof Ventilator
Enhances natural airflow and reduces heat and moisture buildup — critical for workshops and production facilities.
Skylight
Allows natural daylight into the building interior, reducing artificial lighting requirements and improving working conditions.
Gutter & Down Spout
Collects rainwater from the roof and directs it to ground drainage, protecting the foundation and site from water accumulation.
Wall Frame System: Components and Functions
The wall frame system transfers lateral wind and seismic loads while providing structural support for wall cladding.
Rigid Frame (Portal Frame)
Main structural frame of columns and rafters, designed to resist both vertical gravity loads and lateral wind and seismic loads.
Main Frame Column
Vertical steel columns collecting all structural loads from the roof and transferring them to the building’s foundation.
End Wall Column
Columns at building end walls, supporting the gable frame and end wall cladding against wind pressure.
Side Wall Girt
Horizontal members attached to side wall columns, supporting wall cladding panels and transferring wind loads into the primary frame.
End Wall Girt
Horizontal members on end walls supporting end wall cladding and enhancing overall structural stability of the gable ends.
Bracing Rod
Diagonal tension rods providing lateral stability, preventing racking of the building under wind or seismic loads.
Wall Cladding
Protects the building from weather while improving thermal and acoustic performance — single-skin or insulated sandwich panel.
Canopy
Provides shade and weather protection over doors and wall openings, protecting the building entrance from direct rain.
C and Z purlins span between primary rafters to support roof and wall cladding. Z purlins interlock for continuous spans with higher load capacity — preferred for longer bay spacings. Material: Q235 steel.
